The glass objects were made during a July residency at the Museum of Glass in Tacoma in collaboration with the hot shop team.

The work deliquesced for about a week before being composted. This was one half of a collaborative exhibition with coley mixan presented in October of 2023 at Double Garage

The droplets were improbably convex. Translucent and shining, reflecting the sky at me. When leaves moved, droplets moved. Instantly responsive. Quivering and rolling or sliding, dividing into parts; all still perfect and shining and whole. Each with a place where it collected itself. The leaves give them a surface to be droplets on.

Seattle Freezer is pleased to present, for its inaugural exhibition, new work by Francesca Lohmann in Butter Flavor with Yellow.

The transformation of material through time is a preoccupation for Lohmann, who often finds herself turning to media and forms that are as malleable as they are fugitive. In her ongoing series, minimalist cubes of taffy slowly give way to the entropic forces of gravity, collapsing under their own weight. In previous iterations––installed in galleries and outdoors––this decline happens over the course of minutes.

Delaying the decay of organic matter, the refrigerator is a site of stasis and an illusion of preservation. In this context, Taffy XI continues Lohmann’s explorations of contingency, the maintenance of form, and suspended potential––all under 40°F.

The weather was fine and the sea and sky were both blue and soft was a collaborative work with Mel Carter, facilitated by Outer Space Seattle. The event took place over the span of an afternoon in July of 2018 at the MLK Memorial Park in Seattle.

It functioned somewhere between a window display, a bazaar, a yard sale, a picnic, and a temporary installation. It was an arrangement of things, available for barter and trade, without money as a governing intermediary.

The exhibition was installed in a temporarily vacant commercial space, formerly a deli/ convenience store and now a childcare center.
