I’m proposing a mix of florals and sculpture for the hotel room.

I’m interested in how both of these things could occupy the space, with its bed, bathroom and impersonal domestic interior; working with and against that context. Flower arrangements are traditional in such spaces. The sculptures are ‘bodies’, but also alien, less expected. I would like to insert them into the room using the furniture, the linens, the floor, and whatever opportunities present themselves in the specific place I am assigned.

The floral installation would be made on site, in direct response to the room and the sculpture within it.

The bed and bedding is of particular interest for the sculptures; a pedestal to rest on and under.

Sinks and bathrooms are of particular interest for the botanical elements; the sink would function as a container/vase holding water and supporting the arrangement.

Below is some related work, starting with sculpture and moving into florals.
